Medical Fellow

Position Title: Medical Fellow
Employment Type: Seasonal Full-Time (36 hours/week) - Summer 2026 – May 2027

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 8:15a – 4:15p, Friday, 8:15a – 3:00p

Reports To: Clinical Manager / FNP

Position Overview:

The Medical Fellow assists medical providers in caring for their patients. As a team of medical fellows, duties include training and helping to guide undergraduate volunteers, managing MMAP applications and refills, specialty referrals, and phlebotomy services. Medical fellows will be trained in all of these areas, but will be responsible for one primary facet of this process based on team makeup. Medical fellows will interact with patients through in-person and phone encounters and help ensure a smooth medical operation at Mercy.

Education: College Graduate

Requirements:

·         Experience in a healthcare setting

·         Phlebotomy certification or willingness to learn

·         BLS certification (can be completed upon hire if needed)

·         Strong verbal and written skills

·         Superior customer service skills

·         A high level of professionalism

Preferences:

·         Certification as a medical assistant or higher

·         Spanish speaking

Key Responsibilities:

·         Communicate and collaborate with the entire Mercy team to provide excellent care for our patients

·         Volunteer Guidance and Oversight:

o   Help create schedules for volunteer liaisons and scribes

o   Assist with training and guiding volunteers during shifts

·         Patient care support:

o   Chart preparation and patient triage

o   Draw blood and ensure timely send out/pickup of laboratory and pathology specimens – record each specimen on the appropriate logs

o   Look up and print diagnostic results in eCW

o   Conduct point-of-care testing

o   Administer in-office medications and injections, as needed
